Dennis Casio

Biography

Dennis “D$” Casio truly embodies the sport of ultimate with his athleticism and tremendous spirit. A product of Seattle’s Southend, Dennis began playing ultimate at the age of 14 with Franklin High School and has played for renowned youth club programs Fryz and DiscNW YCC before joining Western Washington University DIRT. Dennis’s offensive prowess, relentless defense, consistency and play-making abilities have been essential in DIRT’s success.

Dennis received 2014 Northwest All-Freshmen Team recognition and also received All-Region honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

“Dennis epitomizes the idea of leading by example. He has been a leader on the team long before becoming a captain, and being a captain for two years has given him the perfect opportunity to make every one of his teammates better every time we are all together. Leading with him has shown me how much work he puts into this team and how much he cares about all of his teammates. On the field, Dennis has become one of the most versatile players we have; guarding him is impossible, and being guarded by him is incredibly frustrating. He is known for his skill in the handler set and how deadly his throws are, but when he goes downfield, he eats up yards like he’s been cutting for years. This being his last year, there is no one that I am going to miss more on and off the field – his constant presence on the sidelines and his fire on the field. There’s no one I would rather have throwing to me, as there’s a reason why we call him D$” – Daniel Mah, 2018 DIRT Captain.

DIRT is so proud to nominate Dennis! Dennis’s passion for the sport, his impact on his college program, commitment to the spirit of the game and his elite play should win your vote for the 2018 Callahan Award!
