Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sept. 9, 2019) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, announced today that the 2020 Division III College Championships will be held in Obetz, Ohio, just outside Columbus, the weekend of May 16-17.
The D-III College Championships will be held at Fortress Obetz and will be hosted by the Oshadega, LLC, in association with USA Ultimate, with Rodger Oakes serving as the tournament director. Oshadega and Oakes have hosted many previous USA Ultimate championship events, including the 2019 Select Flight Invite – East and the 2018 Elite-Select Challenge, among others.
“We are over the top excited to host this event,” said Steve Adams, national director of athletic operations and facilities promotion for the Village of Obetz and Fortress Obetz. “We truly love supporting the ultimate community and the positive and respectful culture each of the players, coaches and fans bring to our venue.”
The Division III College Championships were last held in the Columbus, Ohio area in 2014, when the event took place in Westerville.
Each year, USA Ultimate’s College Championships crown champions in the men’s and women’s divisions. Nearly 800 teams, comprised of more than 14,000 athletes, will compete in the 2020 college regular season and USA Ultimate Postseason Championship Series, with eyes on qualifying for either the Division I or Division III College Championships.
