Biography

Jackelyne “Kobe” Nguyen has been a member of the Pie Queens since her freshman year, when she made the nationally competitive Cal team as a rookie with no prior ultimate experience. Since then, she has played on two club teams (Viva in 2015 and Nightlock from 2016-present) and just recently signed with a semi-professional team, the San Francisco Flamethrowers, as their first women’s division athlete. Clearly, she has grown so much as a player since her rookie year, but she has also grown into a devoted leader. Kobe has captained the Pie Queens the past two seasons, inspiring the rest of us with her athleticism, spirit and passion for both the sport and the Cal program. She has treated the Pie Queens like a full-time job, always placing the needs of others before her own and giving every spare second of her time to the betterment of this team. Even the most seasoned ultimate player can learn something from watching her game, and we all should do our best to embody her love for this sport and those that play it.
