Biography
Marissa “AL” Aldieri is one of the best players the Metro East has ever seen. A 5’2” dual threat as both a cutter and handler who manages to sky girls twice her size, AL is a force to be reckoned with on the field. After being one of only two girls on her high school mixed team, AL stepped into the college arena with the experience to be a massive playmaker. She was named to the ME All-Freshmen Team (2015) and named Player of the Year (2017). With unstoppable defense, beautiful hucks and a willingness to bid for literally everything, this recognition comes as no surprise to those who have seen her play. The only thing that could possibly outshine her skill is AL’s embodiment of the spirit of the game. As a two-year captain for UConn, she leads by example in every moment, both on the field and off. Her knowledge of the game and sweet smile have made her into an incredible teacher for her teammates to learn from. She continues to define the spirit of the game even off the college fields. This year, she hosted her very own “Bids for the Kids” hat tournament to benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp that provides a special kind of healing which celebrates the spirit of childhood for kids with serious illnesses. With grace in her heart and flowers in her hair, Marissa AL led UConn Ultimate to its first-ever trip to Nationals in 2017. She has developed our program into one of skill, tenacity and unmatchable hype. We feel so lucky to have had AL as our teammate, friend and biggest supporter these past four years and hope the world sees everything in her that we do – vote for Albert!
