Biography
Steven “Benny” Benaloh has a long history with the Northwest ultimate scene. He made early marks playing for renowned youth club programs Fryz and DiscNW YCC, as well as winning a high school state championship with Eastside Prep. Benny went on to make the 2014 U-20 Men’s National Team before joining the University of Washington (UW) Sundodgers for his college career. Benny’s superior offensive handling and dynamic play-making led to him receiving all-region honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
On the field, Benny is a natural leader. His throws leave the defense with little chance, and his tenacity makes him a consistent dump look to keep UW’s offense alive. You’re never sure when he’s gonna bomb a 70-yard flick for a goal, but you always know it’s coming. Even when he’s on the sideline, he gives all of his voice and energy to his teammates on the field. Whether it’s tackling an inflatable pool toy or being unreasonably energetic after a long point, he brings the fun and the energy. When his team is down, you can expect him to make unbelievable plays to bring them back.
Benny embodies the principles of Spirit of the Game. His fun-loving attitude has shaped the current iteration of Sundodgers to be the competitive (yet very strange) team it is today. His influence will be felt long after he has graduated from the program.
